I thought my word of the year was Bravery…

I thought my word of the year was “Bravery.” I was wrong. It’s “Pivot.”

Shortly before the pandemic began, our Eastside neighborhood protested the purchase of land to the east of our meadow for a development that was known as “Estover Terrace.” We lost. Nothing had progressed in that area for the past 3 years, and I guess I had become somewhat hopeful that perhaps it wasn't going to move forward.

I was wrong.

The groundbreaking ceremony was this past Wednesday, April 26th, and the development work has already begun.

First the area was razed - all trees, etc. - down to dirt. Since they are starting “from scratch," so to speak, roads, water, sewer, electricity, etc. all have to be put in place. This work has begun and will continue from 7 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday, through October. Simultaneous construction of the first developments of 8-plexes and 12-plexes will begin in June, followed by the planned build of a number of houses.

Due to the topography of our surrounding land and the location of our home, the sound carries loudly and clearly right to our deck (in the same way it does every Friday night during racing season.) I do not anticipate being able to do massage while they are doing the de/construction for the development.

What does this mean for outdoor massage therapy at Grace & Ease?

Well, that's a very good question. I will be offering 7 pm massage, Wednesday and Thursday, and Sunday afternoons from 12 noon until 6 pm.

I will be spending many Saturday mornings at the Farmer's Market in Menomonie making my intuitive art available for purchase, but will have some select Saturdays available for massage from 10 am to 2 pm.

I have also ordered a set of Cozybands, headband wireless headphones, and might be able to Bluetooth music directly into your ears, which may offer some opportunity to do massage during some of the construction. I will be trying them out to see how successful that might be. I will keep you posted on this possibility.
